RV’s and the Wide Open
Rolled up to the campgrounds and set up their tents. Ready for a
gathering from all over.Selling trinkets, and t shirts, fruit and
jewelry in the back of their vans. They Travel the West like modern day pioneers. They live off the grid, on generators and septic tanks. The open
the road is their world and they hang their clothes to dry. Campfires
are built as smoke fills the air. They bring out guitars and tambourines and laugh and sing to old southern rock songs.Sharing Stories of adventure, driving to Mount Rushmore and then Old faithful all
in a daze work. Sometimes making it from coast to coast all in a week.
Their house goes where they go. When it
gets too cold some drive down to Florida. And when it gets too hot in Florida they head up north to Maine. When they crave the city, they’ll even park in a lot in New York City.
And when they crave the country, they’ll take to the high deserts.
Inside this stone structure they get together and set up shop, sharing stories of life on the road, new adventures in a new land, and struggles that they look back on and laugh. .
A life of permanent travel I’m in awe of. But I’d eventually miss the warmth and comfort of a stable home, daily familiarity, friends and family close by, not having to hustle or worry about where I’m going to pee.
