Ishy Christine, Mist to Rain, February 12, 2023.

“Mist to Rain”

Through a mist, he sees him.

Across the room, a gentle smile, a tender wave,

Friendly glances and casual conversation.

A light drizzle up as they move closer,

Their hands touching, the slow music gets louder,

As the drizzle becomes steady and they dance.

Look into each others eyes,

Say I like you,

The rain continues throughout their dates,

Coming steadier with each passing month,

The trips,  the deepening conversations.

As thunder rumbles, the skies darken and they move in together,

Say “I do”  when lightning flashes,

As the rain is pouring down in sheets.

And the casual lovers are now life partners.

First comes Puppy number one and puppy number two.

The sky grows a stunning dark purple,

Clouds move as the years pass by.

They change careers from architect to graphic designer and finance to journalist,

Adopt a baby girl from Japan

move from Chelsea to Jersey then a townhouse in Brooklyn.

They laughed, cried fought bickered, but decades later their storm continues.

While the sun shines through, approaching old age,

Reflecting on mist to love.
